I went to get my car inspected, 2003 Mustang Cobra. It has passed emissions tests 5 times with the Predator SLP Pulley tune. This year the Registry computer threw a warning telling me to take the car to a special "official reinspection station", because the computer has been modified, and their system cannot read any of my sensors. I took the car in, and the tech told me to return the car to the factory tune, and everything should be fine. I did this, and drove the car for 200 miles to get the computer reading all the sensors again-- as instructed, 55 mph (that is painful by the way). My check engine light came on, and the codes are po420 and 430-- catalist out of range. I will list the mods on the car below, however it has the bassani mid length headers and cat mid pipe (remember the car passed emissions 5 times before this year). I spke to a local Predator tuner, he said the 02 sensors may not be activated on the SLP tune, and the guy that owned my car before me (It had 14000 mi when I bought it) may have screwed with the stock tune, deactivating the O2 sensors. I am concerned, because I shouldn't have to reflash every time I need to be inspected, and the %$# thing has passed emissions with the Pulley tune 5 times before this year. We can't even get to the emissions testing part, as the modifications Massachusetts did to their system looks for all the sensors, and as I have said--the Predator tune is "not recognized". After speaking to Mike M, he said to send you the tune and appeal to you for help. SLP told me they had heard of this too, and that you guys have helped other customers successfully. My mechanic uses SCT on his F150 (2003), and he passed with no issues. So you know what he is telling me to do. I like your products and want to stay a good customer, so I am appealing to you for help. The car has-- K&N cold air, 95mm maf housing, Accufab big mouth TB, SLP 2.81 pulley, accel coil packs, Bassani mid length headers and mid pipe with cats, borla cat back. ALL 4 O2 sensors are installed, and I haven't done anything else to the motor. I am including both my stock tune and the SLP Pulley tune. Please let me know what you think.

The O2s are off. And they need to be on to pass, which you won't be able to do with the headers because they'll throw the codes. You're gonna need to experiment with non-foulers to see if you can get them to stay on without throwing the codes. Welcome to America in the 2010s. Big Brother is watching and screwing up our fun.
RE: maas inspection computer wont recognize my computer
SLP told me you can modify the tune to turn them on. Help me to understand why you cant.
RE: maas inspection computer wont recognize my computer
BTW-- The pre and post O2s are installed and hooked up.

But are they working, they can fail even if the codes are disabled. Should be able to monitor them with the Predator,no!pk1sau wrote:BTW-- The pre and post O2s are installed and hooked up.

Mine are the same way. Everything is installed and hooked up, and the tuner has the option to turn them on (only older software versions), but it doesn't work. In my case its because of the CMR tune. In your case, turning them on will throw codes because of their location. Its been moved from stock, so their readings are off, which the computer sees as a cat problem.

Mike-- thanks for the feedback, do you work for Diablosport?
RE: maas inspection computer wont recognize my computer
Nah, I don't work for them. Just a Beta tester, no other connection.
I know alot about cars, but next to nothing about tuning.
