I hate the 8R upgrade

Post by commrad »

I installed the 8R upgrade and tune to my truck earlier today, I wish I had never downloaded it.

1. It feels like the old 60 hp tune with soft shift.

2. It smokes like crazy from a dead stop but is MUCH slower, before it would go about 5-10 feet, the turbo would spool and the 36's would start to smoke, now it's just the pipe smoking.

3. Shifting now is awful, with the old 100 hp tune my truck would leave a 1-4 foot black mark going from first to second (automatic) now it feels like the trans slips for 2-3 before sliding gently into gear.

4. There is a HUGE difference in the acceleration rate in third gear now, MUCH slower.

5. My truck feels like I'm using a much cheaper tuner now, I sold those because they were a waste of money.

I bought this programmer because I saw a dyno comparison of programmers and they all did about the same on hp but this one had more torque and I was very impressed with it, saw there was an upgrade and thought hey, these guys did such a great job then, this has got to be better, boy was I wrong. In my opinion they have back slid into the same realm as every one else.

I MISS my old program, I can't play with the Mustangs any more

The truck is a 2000 F-250 Super duty 4x4 auto K&N cold air, 4" turbo back open exhaust. I can'r remember exactly what the programmer says the version is when it boots but the one that it had was 7-4

The code is the one I downloaded yesterday from the site for the 7071

if you need more information I'll have to wait till I get home
