300C Autostick Upshift Disable Question

Post by HemiPete »

I have a 2008 300C 5.7L Hemi with MDS and am using a U7135 Predator V9r23.

I have disabled the Autostick Upshift feature and have been playing around with it a bit to see how it behaves.

From what I have seen so far, if I start from a dead stop and the tranny in 1st gear, I have to manually shift into 2nd, 3rd, etc (as long as I don't rev up to the engine rev limiter point).

If for example I'm up in 5th gear and have to slow down because of traffic, the tranny automatically downshifts, all the way down to 1st if required. I can downshift this way or manually.

What I'm trying to figure out is what is supposed to happen if I am in "D" then switch to Autostick mode. I had heard somewhere that the tranny is supposed to go into whatever gear it had been in before switching from "D" to Autostick.

This seems to work OK except when I'm running 60 MPH + on the highway. If I drop from "D" to Autostick, I get downshifted into 4th (engine revs go up), then I have to upshift into 5th to drop the revs back down to where they were.

Is this normal behavior? Is there any way to always have it drop into whatever gear it had been in before switching from "D" to Autostick?
