Speed Limiter???

Post by Palsar »

1. Predator P/N: U7146
2. Predator Revision: v.7r50d
3. 2000 Ford Mustang GT (4.6L SOHC)

Someone else posted a similar problem. My 2000 GT will not go over 93 mph. It doesn't "miss" it just fades, like it is losing power. I tried to set both Speed Limiters to "OFF" but the 2nd one continues to say "ON". Here is what is showing on the Rev & Speed limit menu:
"Rev Limit in Drive"
"Rev limit in Neutral"
"Speed Limiter OFF MPH"
"Speed Limiter ON MPH"

I've checked the history of the car and it was never a rental or fleet car. I've loaded the Diablo tune about a dozen times and each time I've set the Speed Limiters to "OFF" but the 2nd one continues to say "ON".

I used this same tuner on my 2003 Mach I and didn't have this problem. Could this be an issue with the GT's and this particular revision of the Predator?

I've download the latest revision and will be installing it soon but does anybody have a clue as to why I can't shut off the Speed Limiters?

Thanks.

I can't get the DiabloSport Downloader to connect to my device. I'm using a USB-Serial cable. This stinks.

This page has the drivers for most usb-serial cables and the instructions on how to configure them.

I tried the following driver since I have Windows 7 64-Bit:
Prolific Drivers 98SE,WINME,2000,XP SP2 (32 & 64 bit),Vista(32 & 64 bit),Win 7(32 & 64 bit)

Didn't work. I also tried it on a XP computer, still no luck. I'm going to try to find a plan old serial cable and try it again.

Well, I'm about it give up on this. I purchased a regular Serial cable and plugged it in. Still can not connect to the tuner. In their instructions it said no driver was needed if using a straight serial cable. This blows plus I haven't had any luck getting their tech support on the phone.

Yes, using a power adapter. The predator powers up just fine, I get the main menu. I also used Hyper-Terminal and was able to connect. Here are the results, the first one COM1 111520 and the 2nd one COM1 56700:

Predator Loader; mustang-7j22 04/14/2004 05:48:32 PM
Press X to send a new executable

Sometimes windows can be a real PITA.
Often the best solution is to keep installing drivers until one works.

I thought I read if using a serial/serial cable no driver was needed. I've tried everyone listed. I've tried 4 different computers. I've tried the USB/Serial. I've tried a straight Serial. Nothing has worked. It keeps saying Tool not found when I try to connect.

Ok, forget the upgrade issue. Back to my original problem, why can't both Speed Limiters be turned off?

Were you trying to auto connect to a older 7r tool?
Thats may be the issue, need to use legacy connect.

Yep, that was the deal. I spoke to you this morning and was able to get it updated to the latest version. Thanks for your HELP! (altho, still having that Speed Limiter problem but I'll keep working on that.)
