Upshift/downshift mph settings

Post by stingragtiger »

7193, 2005 chevy 4wd 5.3. Do you want the downshift mph up or down? What about the upshift?

sorry man, I don't...

I have no tcm/tranny support for my own car, so not sure how those settings work...

:(

but I believe, if you raise the rev limiter so you can go to higher revs and hold gears longer, you must also raise the shift points/mph...

that's about all I know about that.. hehe...

what do you want to do?

If you want it to shift earlier, lower the MPH/RPM settings, higher, raise them.

For example, on the downshift mph. if i am running 35 and cruising along the set point is 30mph. i need to pass and press harder on the accel. will it down shift or not. what happens upon raising/lowering the down shift setpoint.

My setting is on U7198. For example I set my downshift mph to 40mph on the 1st gear, so if I am going 35-40 it will shift from 2nd to 1st when I punch it, then it will shift to 2nd when it hits the rpm range, which is usually around 45-50. I imagine down shift mph setting will shift from 1st to 2nd at full throttle when it hits the mph or rpm setting. So if you are set at 30 on your downshift and you punch it, it will not go to 1st. You need to raise it to 35-40 or whatever you gear ratio will handle at a safe rpm range.

I looked at the tow/haul setting and followed it. I'm still playing with it now.
