99 8.3 caps cummins ecm failure

Recently purchased m3000 epp for 99 8.3 cummins. Within 5 minutes of idling after installation engine began to run rough along with cel on. Found fault code of 111 for ecm failure. Replaced my ecm, now truck runs fine (removed power puck). Very leary on reinstalling. Anyone ever had an issue like this? Anything would be helpful. Thanks

I have never seen that.

I cant see how adding an inline device could lead to ecm failure.

Before you do anything, Id send that in for a warranty inspection.
