OK got my new Predator U7198 update to the new version. I installed the diablo tune using 93 octane. Before the update I could advance the timing to 20 in all rpm ranges with no knock. Now the new version will say only up to 10 (degrees).

New version says advance in degrees. The old version said advance to 20 but not in what increments. Come to find out the old was percentage advance, so if I advanced 20 it would be 20% of what the cuurent degrees of timing was. So what is the new version and why only 10? my old version tune had more umph than the new version. ????

old version was in percentage... new versions are in actual degrees... you actually have MORE adjustability now...

for example, if timing at WOT is 24*.... then you can adjust say, +20%, well that's only 4.8* change... with the new version, you can go 10*!

other things in the tunes could have changed between the older version and the new version... maybe why it feels different...

k thanks for the info. I have mine advance 10 Degrees, but am not actually getting that, with no knock retard. I'll check again though. Anyway anyone know how much advaced timing is negating the advance in the first place?

just wondering, what rpm range you're advancing it 10 degrees? that seems like too much

yeah, for sure!! hell, when I do my custom tunes for people, I usually have to REMOVE timing in areas...

the diablo tunes have the timing pretty jacked up as it is... I wouldn't add any more to it....

advancing timing only happens at full throttle right?

yes...

BUT, remember, even if there's no KR, it doesn't mean you're gaining anything... you reach a point where, adding more timing, will actually HURT performance...

and fricken 10* is a LOT man...

like I said, I wouldn't touch the timing at all... it's jacked up pretty high in the diablo tunes already man...

So, from this chart is it saying that no advance will give me the best torque? I guess I wll experiment and see what "feels" best, as I have no dyno in my driveway.

it says ignition timing from MBT (Max brake torque) aka max torque. so what the graph is showing is that you can advance your timing past the optimal point while still not hitting knock. this is why the method of advancing your timing until you reach knock and then backing it down a few degrees is incorrect procedure. the only way to know where your engine makes mbt at a given point is to have it on a dyno.
