WHAT TO DO?

I have an 09 Sierra 4X4 5.3 6 speed. I purchased (new) the diablo sport U7194. I tried to install the performance tune in the truck today and the folling message came up on the screne

Predator was unable to read backup. you will need to export the backup using DS downloader and call 800-531-7484

I have no clue what this means and weather or not the performance tune was installed on the truck. Does this mean I have to call Diablo and or have some kind of special tool etc?
Any help on where I need to go from here and or what I have to do would be greatly appreciated.

did you have your key turned on??? (but do NOT start up the engine)...

did you pull any fuses you need to? if you have ANY aftermarket items installed in the truck, you need to pull their fuses / totally disable them... i.e. aftermarket stereo, amp, nav, trailer brake, remote start, alarm, etc etc...

Yes key was on e brake set and no I dont have any aftermarket items installed on the truck to this point it is totally stock with only factory options on it

what revision is on the predator? when it's powered up and at the main menu, the revision number is at the top of the screen... what is it?

a-HA!!! that's the problem... old revision...

you need to update the predator to the latest revision.... which is 9r17... available on the the 7194 download/support page here:

instructions are available from that page as well on how to do it...

you need to have the usb/serial cable and power adapter for the predator so that you can connect it to your PC to update it... hopefully you purchased that as well, when you bought the predator...

you'll also need to download and install the DSDownloader program, available from that page as well...

I did manage to get the dsdownloader downloaded but cant seem to get the update to download Everytime I try a dialog box comes up and ays it wants me to try and FIND it Im not sure what to do from here Im not much of an internet guy so any help would be greatly appreciated

k.. so you downloaded and installed the DSDownloader...

you have the usb drivers installed for the usb/serial cable that the predator uses to connect to your pc??

Well I have the usb/serial cable but cant seem to get the drivers for it I have a disk that came with it but it doesnt seem to have the drivers on it I tried the driver downloads on this site and cant seem to get any of them to work either I guess Im just a dumbass when it comes to computers

doh!!

what windows version are you on? Windows XP or 7??

did you try these drivers, and did they install ok??

after the install, reboot the computer, and then hook up the usb cable to the computer and predator... then power up the predator...

then go into the Windows Device Manager, and find the listing for the usb cable.. right click on it, and select Properties in the menu that pops up...

then go to Port Settings tab, and click on the Advanced button..

what com port is the cable set to?? change it to be 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5...

apply the change...

click OK to get outta there...

then disconnect the usb cable from the computer... unplug the power from the predator..

reboot the computer...

once it's back up and running, plug in the usb cable to it... connect it to the predator... then power up the predator...

should be good to go!!

I cant says thanks enough for the help and your patients with me I have vista operating system and have tried to follow your last set of directions and still cant seem to get this thing to work I really wish I was better with these computers and didnt have to be a pain OH YA and the drivers dont seem to want to download at all I have tried many times

OK so I got the tool to communicate with my laptop (I got the drivers downloaded) but now Im still having the same problem and that Im trying to download and save the update the dialog box that opens says find save or cancel If I click on the save it does save something to my desktop but if I try to then open it it again wants me to try and find it by sending me to a web page I have no clue as to what I may be doing wrong here and would sure appreciate any help getting the update file so I can actually use this thing someday soon

I see you have a hotmail email address... your username/password for that would be the same for MSN/Windows Live messenger...
