Predator is messed up...help

I tried to update my predator u7194 (used on my 08' cadilllac escalade) to 9r17 and after it finishes installing (according to the display on my pc) it says to wait for reboot but my predator freezes on the "installing bootloader" screen. I shut it off and when I turned it on it said "application is missing or corrupt" so i followed the troubleshooting directions for that and again it froze on "installing bootloader" screen when I turn it on now it says Incompatible hardware (no serial flash found". How do I fix it??

Edit- I found an older firmware 9r08, it still froze on "installing bootloader" but the firmware was successfully installed. Why can't I install v 9r17?

Tools older than 2 years for the most part cant be updated past 9r08.
