2004 2500 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins Problems

I received this for my Dad for his birthday. I just tried to hook it up according to the instructions. Please note this truck IS a 2004 (previously looked up) not a 2004.5. I hooked it up based on the 2003-2006 24-Valve instructions. The truck starts but runs extremely rough, I immediately shut it off just incase. It threw a CEL but as of right now I don't have a reader to find out what it was.

I also tried the 'Common Rail' install but the truck didn't start at all.

Pulling the PP with factory wiring hooked back up the truck runs fine.

The truck has no other modifications that would affect this install and all wiring was not previously modified.

Any help is greatly appreciated before I send this back. it sucks because it was for his birthday.

thanks for the quick response mike. unfortunately i didn't get a shim kit inside my box. Do you have any technical details on the shims? Size, where it goes etc.

yes, checked and rechecked. MAP sensor connector is 4 pin/wire, fuel pressure sensor is 3pin/wire. Connected the box and upon firing up got really bad knocking/shaking, bad idle and check engine light (yet to see what code it threw).
