not sure if this question belongs here or in the CMR/gen support section? Can you guys let me know so in the future I can place my tuning specific questions in the correct area?
In regards to this statement below, how much should I retard the timing if I want to be close to Max Brake tq on a daily driven vehicle but not be in a danger zone? 1 or 2 degrees, more?
And would it be advisable to have a tune for daily driving with regards to retarding timing listed above, & having a specific tune for the track that sets timing at Max Brake tq? What would the optimum retard from first sign of knock be for a track set up and daily driving?
I hope I'm asking this correctly I believe I am from my understanding of this.
Statement:
Spark advance at most operating conditions should be set as close to MBT ( Max Brake Torque) as possible to take advantage of maximum engine efficeincy. It's difficult to damage an ingine from over-spark at light load. MBT may make best power at WOT, but it is often wise to retad timing slightlyl to provide some safety margine and avoid knock. It is not ideal to operate at MBT at idle. Timing should be intentionally slightly retarded from best torque to allow for spark trimming of idle speed.
