Whats right for me ?
I just purchased a 2004 Ford F-150 super-cab Lariat with a Roush supercharger, Roush cold air intake, Gibson shorty headers, Magnaflow exhaust (side exit). The ex owner says rear end gearing has been changed but he bought the truck like it is now and had little real history for me. So other than the bolt ons I see I know very little about this truck. It has 70,000 miles on it I bought it with 65K. The tire size is 295/35/22 and has a 4-6 lowering kit installed. The problem I have is the computer has a sticker on it that says tuned by Roush and my cheap actron scanner will not connect to it (just gives an error) it has a lean on bank 1 code (due to an exhaust leak at the pass side header I think) cracked at collector. Anyway the speedometer is off by about 15 mph according to my GPS and my top speed is 80 mph (around 100mph on the speedo). For the most part the truck runs great shifts a little funny sometimes and smells a little rich but will burn the tires down in first two gears or when passing at 50mph and flooring it. So can I use the predator or the trinity tuner to correct the speedo and top speed limiter and leave everything else like it is or will the not connect at all I searched for hours before posting this and found many questions but few answers.
RE: Whats right for me ?
First thing you need to do is contact Roush and see what they used to tune it.

I'm not sure what they use but they send a re-tuned computer with the supercharger kit and you send them your core unit. This is the e-mail they sent me.
There is no compatible programmer to update the ROUSH calibration. You would have to send the PCM to ROUSH for that type of update. Given the items you have installed on the vehicle, however, you probably have an aftermarket calibration because the ROUSH calibration is not designed to work with an open air intake and headers. You may want to seek a local custom tuner to help you address your issue with the lean code and he also should be able to update the information for the rear end gear.
