Purchased a Predator about a year ago. Asked about getting a file for the latest CALID (M) version vs. downgrading to CALID (L), before loading a canned tune. Nothing from Diablo... I ended up selling the Predator and using my WiTech to re-update my CALID to (M).

Here's one of my posts from 1 year ago:

Dan,
I have a similar instance to yours. I'm using a U7136(05 v6 version). I had the dealer recently reflash my PCM to the latest CALID. It is revision "m" for this PCM. I connected my Predator and told me I needed to downgrade the CALID to "L". I did a bit of searching to find out what the difference in the CALID(s) is? Seems the "M" version for this PCM has a May 09 TSB to address a cam sensor throwing a code in error. All the other TSB's are the same as the "L" CALID upto that point. Now since my car didn't throw the cam sensor error prior to the "M" update, I went ahead and "downgraded" to the "L" CALID, and put on the 93 Diablo tune.Seems to be fine. As I understand it, Diablosport will eventually release a DCX update to the newest CALIDs. Then I'll be able to go back to the "M" CALID should I need to return to the dealer.
Hope this makes sense and gives you a bit more info.
I also hope to see DiabloSport doing a better job at keeping things current.

So I purchased another Predator today and still see there is NO CALID UPDATE for the (M) version CALID with a U7136. Guess Diablo is too busy with other things to keep stuff current? But come on, 1 year later and no support?
LAME...

Why not let it downgrade?
Especially if you have a witech and can update it yourself later??

Why not keep up to date at Diablo? And post it for ALL of your customers... I did a bit of checking between CalId's L and M, only 2 changes in the Chrysler code(see some of my older posts) between the two, but why not keep current?

If they don't get the Cals from Chrysler, they can't update the tunes for them.

The latest CalId's have been available for over a year. Guess that Diablo is just interested in "First to Market" Blips. Too bad they don't keep current for previous releases of products. Now that I no longer have a Witech, and want to restore my car to factory, I'm one version behind again (l instead of M for this model...). Oh well, guess they have bigger fish to sell!

Mike, I have a big problem now. I installed the new u7136_9t07a_468.crom, did the requested cal updates and tried to install the 93 oct tune. Everything went normal until the end. Then I got a "tune failed to write" notice with a reboot. After the reboot the tool asked to reinstall the original tune, but nothing happens. Now the car just makes funny sounds and blinks the light with the ignition on.

Aside from a visit to the dealer tomorrow, what else to do?

The modification from the stock 93 oct tune was bumping up the throttle cal.

car is a 2010 Challenger 3.5L

Mikel,
Loaded the crom you sent. No problem loading it or operating the Predator to install and uninstall tunes. Doesn't seem to update me to the "M" CalId though? Still says it's loading "L" when doing an original restore.

BTW: Any update to the "fried PCM" with this crom?
Thanks

No, looking into it once I get a calid or VIN to see if anything odd happens.

If it supported the cal that was in your car, its a good thing, right?

OK I ended up downgrading to "L" before I was able to install any Diablo "canned" tunes on initial install. Unfortunately That did away with the "M" update I got from the Witech/Dealer visit. I have since sold off my Witech VCIPod. so now I am stuck with the "L" CalId that was written when I started to use the Diablo Predator, due to "you need to downgrade....etc". Now I want to return to the original factory CalId, but don't have the "M" file anymore. Hope that made sense...
Kaveman.
Keep us updated on the "fried PCM"... Hope it's just a coincidence in time with the upload of your crom...
