u7137 where are shift firmness and o2 sensor disable options

Post by gettodachoppa »

On a 2004 Dodge Ram Hemi, I want to increase the shift firmness and turn off the rear o2 sensors, where are these options located in the menus? I also have a CAI on my engine, why is there no CAI tunes in like their is on the tuner for the magnum?

You can't turn off the O2s. Its illegal. A CMR dealer has to do a custom tune for you.

The trucks don't get CAI tunes. Not needed, so theres no point in using memory for tunes that do nothing.

why would a cai tune not be necessary on a truck when you can put a cold air intake on it like the car hemis? just wondering. and if its illegal then why can you shut off rear o2 sensors on a magnum/charger with a diablo sport predator? I have no cats and im sick of that check engine light, i know someone with an 03 ram and his had that option. and why is there no trans support for 04 rams, I got this P.O.S to increase the shift firmness of this grandpa trans, just the same as before the guy I know with the 03 ram said his predator has the option to increase shift firmness, why would 03's have it and not 04's?!

CAI tune isn't necessary on the trucks because they don't lean out like the cars do. The intakes on the cars are restrictive, so putting on a CAI leans them out. ON the trucks they aren't intake restricted, so they don't lean out.

The cars cannot turn off their rear O2s either. That option was removed.

The 03s and 04s have totally different TCMs. Thats why the 03s have the option (which I'm told doesn't work very well), and the 04s don't.

rams dont have a shift firmness option, load any tune and thats about as good as it gets, unless you get a custom file.

Does anyone have any specific information as to WHY there is no TCM programming capability. Diablosport is not alone with this dilemma. No one that I can find has any TCM programming on the market.

Is it a technical issue due to the design of the trans or TCM?

Or is it a business problem due to Dodge not releasing the codes or wanting too much money for them?

there is some canned tune TCM programming ability now. if you have 9r03 or later Crom, you should have part throttle 1-2, 2-3, 3-2 & 2-1 shift adjustments + WOT 1-2 & 2-3.

CMR can adjust quite a few things in truck TCM's.

I hope to get some decent custom Ram TCM tuning on the market. got DCX CMR a while back, and have worked out a decent TCM tune on my '05 Hemi Ram.

trans design is fine. I think Dodge is stingy with code release.

from what I have seen looking at template files, '07 & up have better TCM tuning options than '05 & '06.

however, there is room for truck TCM template improvement on all years in my opinion. none of the years I have looked at have more than 6 shift point adjustments per gear, which is pretty coarse. 4 up & 5 down only have 2 adjustment points.

to accommodate a wide variety of custom shift schedule requests would take 10 or so different throttle position shift point adjustments for ALL up & down shifts.

I think there is a lot more to the truck TCM's than what Diablo has deciphered so far.
