dt466e failure after installing m1000

Post by onemaddad »

my high pressure oil pump failed 160 miles after installing your product! i want to return it and i don't want to pay your $20 service fee! since i am already out over $1000 for the repairs to my truck.

If you wish to return it, please contact the dealer you purchased it from.

We have sold 100s of these units, and had no reports of such failures.
You'd see it here if it were the case ;)

I will give you that the oil pump is orignal from 97, and that maybe it would have failed. but my concern is that after replacing the pump could this happen again. can you tell me how many have you sold for this application? and you have stated that no one else has had any problem like this? how much strain does the unit put on the oil pump? if you can guarantee that this was fluke and not because of your product, then i will not pursue this any futher and re-install the m1000 after repairs.
thanx for your time

My understanding is that the oil pump is driven off the fuel pump in these applications, correct?

Either way, we have sold at least 400 M1000 units, and while I see the occasional issue pop up here on the forums, there has never been any report of a failure of any sort.

the m1000 changes the signal from the oil pressure control sensor to the computer. the computer then commands the oil control regulator to increase oil pressure to the injectors, causing more fuel to be delivered to the motor. the oil pump in this system runs between 400psi to 3000psi. my fear was that the m1000 caused the oil pump to be overdriven which lead to the failure of the pump. maybe a better way for this application is to use boost pressure like in the cummins 24v motor. anyway i will post back after repairs.
thanx
