I purchased my Duramax equipped truck at the GM dealership I work at. The previous owner had the Predator Tuner he left with the truck when he traded it in. I need to know how to approach using it, as i'm not familiar with one. It came with the owners set of instructions along with the box and no PC interface cable. I'm not sure if he has used the tuner before and if the truck has had any reprogramming done. I don't want to mess anything up. Would I be advised to get the PC cable and perform an update first? If so, would the programmer recognize a prior use/or rather show the factory program has been backed up already? Thanks for your help

I managed to get through the programmer and works fine. I started with backup of factory tune, installed the 65hp tune then restored to factory tune. Now my speedo works correctly as the speed was off and it would tell me I was doing 70 when I was doing in fact, 78mph and less diff at slower speeds. Truck has the lt245 tires on it since I purchased the truck. It appears to be correct now. Not because of programming a different tire size either. Not sure what happened but never went into programming for changing tire size. Pretty happy with the tuner. Managed to find a trouble code with the truck that wasn't triggering a error message on my DIC.

I do have a question. I did follow the directions and it said to turn the key to run but doesn't that damage something with the glow plugs being on during the process???

I had the key turned to accessory the second time I downloaded a tune and it said it went ok with the download. Am I making a mistake? I pulled the fuses it said to and followed all the directions except the turning on the glowplugs made me very nervous. The more I think about it the more I am concerned. The truck seems to run fine though. I did have a "service 4wd" message come on when I programmed the first time with the key turned to run.

No worries, key cycles are an important part of any flash process.

You could see "Service 4wd", "Low Fuel", "Security" or any combination of these while the tune is being written to the ECM. No worries unless it stays on after the key cycles or when the truck is running :)
