EOT temp in data viewer showing a - number (U7165)

Post by U235a4 »

I have the latest rev in the predator (u7165) and using the lastest dataviewer. When I view engine oil temp (EOT) it show as a - valued number like -6910.3, why is this? #2Also what is the differance with the two engine coolent temps? And #3 why does in appear the engine oil shown in the predator that is celuis appear to be more of a trans temp and not oil temp. BTW I have the same results on a 2004 , and two 2005's so I know it is not a truck issue.

predator Release 9r13
dataviewer 3.3.0.7

what do you want a log of? a log like the screen shot of dataviewer or one from within the pred.

log taken with Predator then downloaded to DV. Chart appears right but EOT value at top are in error. Also note EOT in predator screen never goes over 49c or 120*F. The one thing that appears correct is the chart line the EOT value is also wrong on the right side of the chart.

I will take a log using the PIDS in the screen shot later today this was in the am today on a quick run.

The log you sent show EOT range of 0.68v to 2.81v while EOT in Deg. C around -3931.5 on DataViewer. Will need to investigate further.

ok so you see the problem I'm seeing, maybe you know yet but is this a problem with DV or firmware in the 7165... did you try the log in a older version of DV to see if it reads correctly?

It's on the to-do list. I can tell you DV reads the ECU directly, so it's not necessary an issue with Predator firmware.

so I take it then the issue is with DV and how it is reading and understanding the data. I take it then that is why DV also skews the recorded data coming from the predator. just wondering have you tried this on a older version of dv and does it work? if it does would it be possiable for me to get a copy of that because reading the delta between oil and water temps is a big thing on these trucks with the issue of the oil cooler clogging.
