NEW TO THE DEISEL WORLD...HELP ME PLEASE.
I JUST GOT A U7131 PROGRAMMER FOR MY 06' DODGE MEGACAB 3500 SINGLE AXLE...Ii TRIED THE TOW MODE THIS PAST WEEK-END AND WOW...IT WORKED GREAT.
WHAT IS THE BEST SETTING FOR DAY TO DAY RUNNING WITHOUT THE TRAILER...THE TRUCK IS STOCK EXCEPT FOR AN K&N INTAKE KIT.
MY REAL QUESTION IS IN REGARDS TO THE EXTREME RXL TUNE...IT SAYS TRANSMISSION MODS ARE REQUIRED...WHAT MODS ARE REQUIRED...AS I DONT WANT TO BLOW UP MY NEW TRUCK....
IS THE STACKER WORTH THE MONEY...AS I OPTED OUT AND JUST GOT THE PROGRAMMER. BECAUSE I WAS NOT SURE WHAT IT REALLY DID.
WHAT ELSE WOULD BE GOOD TO GET TO MAXIMISE THE PERFORMANCE OF MY PROGRAMMER..OR WHAT ELSE SHOULD I RUN TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE.
THANKS IN ADVANCE,
MR. NEW GUY

on the safe side use a exaust guage....remove the resonator or "cat" if its to hot! or go with a mandrell bent full exaust.
the perf. tune was my best fuel milage but that is diff. for some.

You will need a minimum of a better converter and valve body. That's for starters. You really need a fully built trans to run that all the time. Your truck is probably making around 425-430rwhp on the Extreme RKL tune. That's a lot for the stock trans to handle...
As for the Puck, just keep what you have! It runs better and rail pressure is much lower w/ just the Predator...

If you want to be safe then stick to the tow tunes. Anything higher will deteriorate your trans eventually...

Also, if I run my puck alone and stay in it, it will climb to 1300 at 70ish and keep going higher if I didnt let up. The tow tune is my favrite for generl driving and trailer pulling, good throttle responce but it is also smooth. Not to mention the egts won't go much above 1000(preturbo). I get 17ish mpg but could do better if my foot would just listen to meAs for the Puck, just keep what you have! It runs better and rail pressure is much lower w/ just the Predator...

Id say so long as you are not in it very hard you should be fine tranny and egt wise, but if you get in it relly hard you are most likley gonna have a toasty engine.I ASKED THE GUY AT THE STORE WHERE I BOUGHT MY PRED ABOUT RUNNING ON EXTREME MODE AROUND TOWN...AND HE TOLD ME NO PROBLEM...WHAT DO U GUYS THINK....I DONT HAVE AN EGT TEMP GUAGE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.
