New Predator User - when is the factory tune saved?

I have a 2007 2500 with the 5.9. I have the predator U7131. I have the latest firmware update on the device. I downloaded the manual from the website for this device and was looking at the instructions for installing a tune.

The first thing the instructions say is that the first time the predator is installed on a vehicle that it will create a backup of the original factory tune. When I connect the device this does not happen.

Since the backup is not happening when the instructions say, will the backup happen when I install a tune?

I simply want to verify the process before I end up creating a problem for myself.

It happens while installing the tune

Mine didn't. I installed the Performance tune and it didn't write correctly and tried to go back to original tune and it wasn't there. I re-installed the performance tune (again) and of course, it had problems writing correctly - but, for some reason at the recognized it this time and asked if I wanted the original back up. I chose it, it tried to write it but said it couldn't (message). Below the message, it had a reboot option & I took it. Tuner claims I'm back to original stock, but I don't know if it left a footprint. The U7131 predator tuner on my 06 never wrote any program from start to finish correctly. Done. Done. and done.
