Terrible Mileage---Can't Revert to Older CROM U7165

Well, I have tried all tunes on the new update, and love the power on the extreme tune. However, my mileage has suffered and I'm a very conservative driver (most of the time). I have lost an average of 2-3 mpgs on all tunes.

I received many different tunes in the past to help with my situations and tried to revert back to 8r20. When trying to upload the CROM to the tool, I got an error message....."Can't downgrade pcm 6_0_ below 9r13".

Is there a way to get around this, or can I get a better "performance" tune?

Thanks,
Eric D

You wont be able to downgrade, Send us a copy of the last tune written and we can take a look at it. Have you been up on your maintenance? Clean air filter, stuff like that?

Thanks Buck! I'll give both a try. As far as regular maintenance go, the answer is yes. Always on top of it.

Buck,

Over the last month or so I have tried both tunes that you sent me. Driving conditions were fairly consistant, and all mileage figures were hand calculated. So, here is the scoop:

Custome Tune 1--2 fill ups with a mpg average of 17.3.
Custome Tune 2--2 fill ups with a mpg average of 14.3.

Love the power of the new extreme tune, but like I said, my mileage suffered (average of 15.2).

The power for the custome tune is OK, and the shifting points are great. I will be using Custome Tune 1 for now.

Thanks again Buck!

Hi Buck, I've recently downloaded the 9r14 tune for my predator and I'm having a difficult time getting mileage also (driving like there is an egg under the throttle). Could I possibly get the tune #1 mention above?

Thanks,

Mark

[quote="moparmcal"]Hi Buck, IHi Buck,
I'm a new customer,I have v.9r13 on my tool and would LOVE to get the mileage listed above (below for reference)
"Custom Tune 1--2 fill ups with a mpg average of 17.3. "

If you would email a copy to me I'd be eternally grateful. Do I need to upgrade to v9r14 first to use them and restore original tune before the upgrade?

I'm using the 60 HP Economy tune now and I don't really notice much of any difference except mileage isn't as good as before.

I would try the 9r14 first, yes. restore to stock, then update, then load the new tunes from 9r14.

I also have a 6.0l with 9R14 and I do not like the shifting at around 4000-5000rpm shes got 230k on her and I do not like her goin that high, and my mileage is not great after update. I have new dealer flash also got it like 6 months ago and when i put 9R13 in it had like no power. So I updated to 9R14 and I thought it does not have the same fuel mileage or power as before update. I have went back to stock a coulpe of times to see if it would help...but it never did. If there is a better file like #1 mentioned above I would be grateful. I also keep up with maintenance 4" ex. turbo back, no cat, no new head studs and I need something to keep egts down until egr delete.

Thanks,

Brad
