Predator Bootup String Missing VPP Issue
Predator was purchased from Tbyrne sometime in 2008 so I'm not sure if it's still covered under warranty.

I just got a brand new u7135 for my 05 Magnum R/T and had the same problem. First the tool said I needed to update my calibration for my car. So I got the cable and the downloader and took care of that. I try it on my car again and it looks like it’s working now, then at the end, it says calibration successful. Turn key off, close. Turn key on, close. Calibration failed. I click on info and get the VPP issue. Emailed tech support and he said to fill out a RMA and send it in. So, I’m in process of that. But, I have noticed this VPP issue is pretty regular it seems. There are lots of blogs on it here. What exactly is the VPP issue? And can it hurt my car?

So, I just got a RMA form in my email, but it said it might take up to 30 days or more including shipping to get my Predator returned. So I looked into where I got the Predator from, Amazon, and they have a GREAT return policy if I may add. I should have a new one in four days or less. But, I am wondering if the same thing is going to happen? Is it my car? Is that the problem? My last question was not answered... I understand that you guys are busy, it is that time of year, but please? I am the kind of guy that likes to understand, I am not the average "bolt on" kind of guy. This computer program stuff is all new to me. I am the usual "physical changes mater" kind of guy. What are the chances that I get the same "VPP issue?" This is typical it appears. Is it the tool, or the cars fault, and what is it? Please respond, whether it be on this blog or via email. Just wanna know if I am chasing my tail.

I recieved the new Predator, had to calibrate my car again, and now it is working

I'm happy. Any good suggestions on what to play with first? And how easy is it to get into trouble with it?

I have a 05 magnum R/T and I got a predator and same thing happined to me with 2 of them I finally gave up on it with spending the muney just to burn the boot up string when it tells you to turn your key off. I could see it burning and smoking from behind screen. I seen somewhere where it is something to do with the 05 magnums and there was a way around it but never got a response on how to fix it. It will let me use it to change shift points tire size and all quick ajustments and that's all. I'd say that's alot of money spent on just usein it to calibrate my tire size. If anyone has an Anser to the problem pleas let me now I would really like to use one of these tuners

I would send it back, I dont know what causes the iusse but when I got my second one I booted it straight up and everyting worked fine. Maryland Speed did say I should of went through DS customer service and not just go off the forum but in the end they were easy to work with. Try it out.
