Ford f150 2010 5.4 Max Tow

If this question doesn’t belong to this section of the forum, please let me know.

But here I go, my father has a 2010 and he really believes there is something wrong with his MPG.

He's doing an average of 13-14mpg while one of his friends which have the SAME thing does 23-24mpg.

Both are 2010, I mean it’s the same thing. He used to be hard on it, and he started to play nicer with time in order to save some fuel. Apparently it’s not changing anything.

Then he bought the diablo chip upgrade and he's not seeing much of amelioration.

Could there be something else wrong with it? I mean, defective part or tranny or whatsoever?

What engine does he have, and what gearing?
Stock wheels and tires on the truck?

Hes using 5.4L and 3.73.
Hes also using LT stock tires.

Could there be something wrong with the tranny? Looks like it doesnt handle much of of the torque. As soon there is a small hill, even tho its a 5.4L it changes gear almost right away. Obviously its going to be worse on the MPG...

well, we dont tune the tranny on the 09-10 f150 yet, so if the trans is acting odd, I might run it into the dealer for a check up.
