I have a 2007 Charger SRT. Just wondering, Ive been reading and the consensus is that a cold air intake really doesnt seem to give you much of a bump in power, so most guys say its not worth the money unless you want the sound. I have been running my predator with a canned tune 93 octane, and it seems to have given me a hp boost for sure. However, I pulled my air filter today (Fram paper filter) and see that its actually raised in the center... makes me think that the motor wants more air than its getting. So, I modded my airbox, cut open the front of it a bit, and installed a K&N filter for more airflow. So my question is: does this meet the requirements to run the CAI tune? Is there anything I need to be aware of if I do it? Can I hurt the car if I run this tune and its not 'cold air enough'?
Along the same topic, with the 93 octane tune, if I end up at a station and cant get 93, but get 92, is that ok? Should I carry a bottle of octane boost just in case?
Thanks for the help!
Mike
93 tune vs 93 CAI tune requirements
RE: 93 tune vs 93 CAI tune requirements
Try it. The only difference is extra fuel added.
A good intake will make power though. Check out the AirHammer or the aFe Stage 2. Both have been dyno proven to make power.
Running 92 octane on a 93 tune will cause knock retard. The 6.1 Hemis knock a lot, even if you use the correct octane, so using less, guarantees it. The only octane boost that works on the Hemis is NOS Race Formula booster. All the others are a waste of money.
