U7198 Off The Line

Post by dusty_h2006 »

I purchased a Diablo for my 2000 Silverado 5.3 about a week ago. I have been very impressed, although I am having trouble off the line. Does anyone have sugestions on what to adjust to help?

I'm not happy with how its accelerating through first gear...it doesn't have much get up and go until I hit second.

Do you guys have larger wheels/tires on the trucks?
Generally low end performance is the biggest gainer on the trucks as we reduce the PE delay from 4-5 seconds to 0 which makes for big (25-30+ lb/ft) torque gains down low, right off idle.
Big wheels and tires will kill alot of this power/acceleration.

My friend and I Have the same problems Seems like the first gear is way tall by that I mean our trucks (2001 & 2001) both 6.0L with 3.73 gears in the rear do not shift out until 40 + MPH. with a 1/2 ton you can go with smaller tires. Is this true with your truck?

I have taller tires on mine...but not that much over stock. I have played with my paremeters a lot but can't seem to gain any more low end. Should I play around with the tow haul settings or try something else?

Tow haul is a shifting parameter, and will not add power.
I'd love to see what happens if you run the truck back to back on a dyno or at the track, as I am confident that the power is there.

Thanks

Your problem is most likely due to the long first gear of the 4L80E transmission. I had the same issue with my 6.0L HD. I was still turning 10.80 in the 1/8th which I didn't think was too bad considering the size/weight of the tow pig.
