Vortec Max custom tune - Johan

Johan, I sent you an email with the same info, just wanted to post it here as well. Thought I might get some responses from the other guys too.

This custom tune got stronger as the miles went on....It feels pretty good! but I did some data logging this afternoon for about 30 miles and the LTFT are consistantly in the (-) range. The lower the rpm the more negative the number. Idle to 2500 they are from -7.38 to -4.5 respectively. Then 2500 to 5k they are from -2.8 to -0.78, getting closer to 0 as the rpms get to 6k. WOT is a consistant 0.00 to maybe 0.76.

I also get no KR at WOT and only saw a little KR(less than 1*) at about 75-90% throttle, but only sometimes. What all adjustments do you recommend? Take away some fuel from 2-4k? Or something else?

Hi BD,

i havnt spent alot of time tuning with winter and all, but i have tried to find where i can see the knock sensor activity (degree's of knock). Can you point me in the right direct?

Can you see that on the tuner itself or do you need to do a live data log to a laptop?

Thanks!

Are you asking for KR display for the same vehicle or something different. The knock retard pid is listed in the live data section in all GM programmers.

On the GM model....go to Diagnostic Mode=>select trans type=>Live Data=>then scroll about 3/4 the way down and you will see "spark" and "knock retard."

I have always been a GM guy and I am just learning about ford's.

When i go to the live data i get sub menus:

Gas Accel
Gas Drivability
Gas Fuel
Gas ignition
Gas speed control
Gas Trans
Live data reset.

I dont know if the GM tuners are the same, but is it in one of these sub menus-cause i went looking and didnt see it. But i am use to how GM would call it; does Ford have a differnet acronym for knock?

Thats a Ford pid list, only the newer ford's have knock sensors. If it had knock sensors it would be in the ignition group.

Unfortunately i am not a ford expert, I do all our gm stuff so I would not know. I know some fords have the physical knock sensor but it is not used.

Welp, i'm the same i know GM's way better that Ferd's.

But as far as i understand, Ford did use these to retart the timing in the 96-02 cobra's. The termies (03/04) didnt have knock sensor's and used IAT to retart the timing.

Any ford guru's care to responed?
