07 GT C&L Street True Flow

I have a 2007 GT 5-speed & I just purchased the Diablo 7145 with a C & L True Flow intake. In the directions that came with intake it states that with 93 octane tune using 87 octane to retard Global timing 4-5 degrees. The Diablo has the tune set for 91 octane with the "Street" version for the C & L intake program. Currently I am running 87 octane. Which leads to my question, I have retarded the global timing by 4 degrees & the car does seem to run very well at this setting. But I have not gotten into it with the fear of not having the correct timing. Can you confirm this setting? The only other mods are FlowMaster axle back exhaust & I will be instaling 3.73 gears later this week. Thank You

If you do not hear any pinging at WOT near redline in 2nd and 3rd gear, then 4 deg is right for your situation.
If you hear pinging, then try a different brand of fuel. If that does not help, then retard another degree or 2.
