New to me Predator u7194

Post by sparrow994 »

Just picked up a u7194, successfully updated it from v9.05 to v9.26.

Just installed the 87oct tune on my 2011 Sierra 1500 5.3l.

How do I turn off AFM.

Only drove it 100ft, seems a bit more responsive. I'll wait and see.

It's sketchy when you install it, you get messages on the dash of "Service 4WD" and so on etc.

Any good tips and tricks, or pointers? I don't totally have my head wrapped around it all yet.

I didn't disable onstar, I hope thats not a problem. The Online user manual leads to the manual for u7191, and it makes one believe they should start unhooking fuses.

Hey man

To turn AFM off you would need to modify the tune before you install it. Just before you install the tune there are two options, one to install the tune and the other to modify. The setting is called DOD on the tuner. The only other thing I would recommend is to get a custom tune from Lew aka 06MonteSS. He will make a world of difference with your truck.

Happy tuning.

I have a 04 silverado 5.3L
I bought it with the pedator already installed.
The speedo is off by about 3 MPH. It has a 6in lift and 35's
I cannot see the current modifications put on with predator, but I think it has the 87 octane mode on, but they never changed the tire size.
Should I go through the 87 octane mode and change tire size to start with? Or is there a better place to start?

I would start with changing the tire size on the Predator in the "Modify Tune" section.

If its only 3 mph off with 35 inch tires, then someone has tried to adjust it in the tune already.

Go to options, show last tune written and that will tell you the tune that is currently on the truck. Then choose Performance tune and select the same tune, then select modify tune and correct your tire size in there.
No, i don't work here.

So I need to restore the factory tune, and then re-install the 87oct, but before doing so, there should be an option to modify 87oct tune?

I find the shifts to be pretty hard at the upper rpm range. Yesterday when I went WOT from stop, the tires chirped when it shifted to second.

This morning when it was shifting from 2nd to 3rd at WOT I found the motor lost the load momentarily between the shift, and the rpm's free rolled to 6000rpm or so. I was at about 5200rpm.

So, does Lew jsut do the tunes for free? What would he change? Is it dependent on me logging data? What about altitude, temp and humidity?

Can I only log one parameter at a time or do I "Check" them all? I haven't tryed to log data yet.

If you already have the 87 tune installed, then just reselect it in the tune menu, then choose "modify tune" and turn off DOD.

kk thanks.

What's the deal with the Hard shifts at the high end? Can that be adjusted? Or just pound the shit out of it?

haha, I would just keep my foot on the floor regardless, lol, but I know some of you guys like comfort so if you want some softer shifts, email me your stock tune and last tune written. I'll get you a custom tune.
