Backup Corrupt
I recently purchased a Diablosport Trinity for my 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 6.2. The first thing I did was install all updates – even before connecting the Trinity to the truck.
I have only installed the “Diabloâ€

RE: Backup Corrupt
simple fix, give us a call with the tool powered up in the truck, we'll get it to recover the stock tune.
The shifting issue should clear up once you get the TCM tunes loaded to the truck.
Thanks

Thank you for the very quick response.mikel wrote:simple fix, give us a call with the tool powered up in the truck, we'll get it to recover the stock tune.
For those that may pick up this thread and experience this problem. Everything is working fine after a quick fix from Diablo support. Apparently a permanent fix for this bug is expected in a week or so.
After a quick test drive using the MPG tune - the shifting problem is still there. I understand from our phone conversation that the shifting problem may have been previously addressed, however, all current updates are installed in the Trinity and the shifting is very, uh, scarey. If I hook my trailer to the truck I would expect the life expectancy of the transmission to be very short because of the violent shifts.mikel wrote:The shifting issue should clear up once you get the TCM tunes loaded to the truck.
As per your request (during the phone conversation) I've attached a copy of the current tune. Note, the problem was also apparent with the Diablo tune.
Thanks again for your assistance.

RE: Re: RE: Backup Corrupt
sorry, we'll also need a copy of the stock PCM tune.
id also expect that the tool read a copy of your stock TCM tune, if so, post that here as well please.

I gave the new tune a try and it is certainly less violent than before but now the shifting is just soft. It's shifting like the truck is stock. Just to be clear, firm shifting is desired - it's the revving to redline before it shifts that's the problem.
There must be some tuning parameters that will give a firm shift while eliminating the revving in (what feels like) neutral. I probably don't know what I'm talking about but I can see hard/soft shifting being related to the pump pressure, while the speed (quickness) it moves down to passing gear being another parameter. For example, now it shifts quickly but softly - I want quickly and firmly. <G>
On a related note - When the shifting issue is cured, I would like it applied to all available tunes (Diablo, MPG, 83 Octane, etc.), not just the MPG tune. I need to be able to switch between performance and mileage tunes when needed without having to worry about the violent shifting. That's where you're going with this - Correct?
I hope this isn't asking too much. Thanks again for your assistance.

we need to determine why the tool is not tuning your tcm, thats where the true shifting gains come from.

I also tried out the update today on my 2010 GMC 6.2L, I was able to modify my parameters for tires and speed. I then went to download diablo tune and the tool now says backup is corrupt. Called tech support and went thru the motions and I have to send my tool in for I could not take the chance that forcing it might put the vehicle in a non-driving status. Is this currently a problem with the new update?mikel wrote:we need to determine why the tool is not tuning your tcm, thats where the true shifting gains come from.

I currently have keiths unit here on my desk, we i got it, it acted as an update had just been applied, do you recall if you updated this unit in the process or before or inbetween tuning your vehicle?
The same goes for the above poster, did you at any point update the unit while you had a backup in it?

The unit was updated before it was wvwer installed by the shop I purchased it from. It was then connected to the PC only to install the drivers when DSDOWNLOADER was installed. As I recall it was not updated again during this process unless something was changed during this process without my knowing.
Thanks, Jimbo[/quote]

We figured out what happened with the other unit, the user appears to have attempted to modify the stock tune, which is the only option shown when the calibration is not supported, we have that menu item there so the unit will take a backup so the user can provide us with the unsupported backup, it will not allow to program this unsupported calibration and hence the error messages.
This does not appear to be your case thou.

So do I need to call in tomorrow or attach the files from my Trinity for you to look at? Aw heck, I will go ahead & attach them anyways. The only reason I found out about the corrupt backup was because it threw my speedo off 5 - 10 mph depending on speed.johan wrote:We figured out what happened with the other unit, the user appears to have attempted to modify the stock tune, which is the only option shown when the calibration is not supported, we have that menu item there so the unit will take a backup so the user can provide us with the unsupported backup, it will not allow to program this unsupported calibration and hence the error messages.

Ok i will check this out in the morning, just to be clear, right now when you try to install any tune or original backup, what message do you get on the programmer?
