F250 SD 6.0TD. Getting ready to use the 7165 for the first time...but, to be honest, alot of these posts make me a bit nervous on using it period. Seems to be mucho compatibility issues going on. Is there anything I need to know before I plug this thing in? Anything that will make or break a successful download?
Also, do you guys recommend sticking w/ the 65HP tune or go for the 100HP tune? For now this is the only upgrade I have over stock...so, no exhaust (yet), no cold air, no gauges.

Go for the 65 tune, just follow the instructions and all will be fine.
Thanks

one more question...does the DS programming in any way effect the EGR? I know some programmers can or will disable the EGR for better performance. I'm considering unplugging mine...mainly for maintenance issues...but if the programmer renders it useless...?

The tunes do not affect the EGR.
Thanks

Mike,
Thanks for responding quickly to my previous questions. Got a couple more now that I finally got my Predator and tried it out. Everything loaded fine but I have a performance issue. If I drive normally, all is good. If I accellerate anything close to quickly I get very strange...uh...half shifting or shifting. It's almost like it can't decide if it wants to shift or not to the point where my foot stays steady but the truck lunges like its trying to find a shift point. Tried both the 60 and 100 HP tunes, both do the same...actually the 100HP tune feels like its gonna wreck the tranny if I get on it. Stock tune shift normally (for stock).
U7165 v.17
my CalID is: VXAP2N2
Truck is an '04 250SD 6.0
Also, what's the weird noise that occurs when the ign is turned on now. Sounds like maybe the turbo turning? Doesn't do it w/ stock tune...just wondering.

Not sure about the sound you are hearing, but the other issues you described will be fixed in the next revision.
Keep an eye on the web for the latest updates.
Thanks
Mike

Will the next revision have any programming options for this model...other than just the speed limiter? I've noticed by looking around that most of the other predator tuners seem to have many more custom programming options. Are the tunes for these engines just more limited? I'd love to have some shift point control and things of that nature...
