hey guys
i have a 2006 GMC sierra 2500HD with a 6l motor that i daily drive. i purchased a trintiy t-1000 for my truck and have been impressed so far!!! my question is about afr... i was tinkering with the guage setup and found afr under the misfire folder. BUT as far as i have read, you cant read afr without a 3rd party wideband o2 sensor kit??? so i make a guage and take my truck for a spin and sure enough it is reading 14.6 when im driving "normaly" and when i do a wot pass it reads around 12.3. so is that reading accurate? accurate enough to get a custom tune with? accurate enough that you can start tinkering with injector slope? where is it reading from? i phoned diablosport tech and he said he had NO idea what it was reading BUT the trinity CANT read afr without 3rd party hardware... but the guage that comes up in the factory menu reads AND changes as i drive...
help me out... im very confused whether this thing reads afr OR if i have to buy a wideband unit in order for the trinity to read it (really dissapointed about that...)
also... the truck has 4 o2 sensors stock (dual exaust up to the muffler, one pre-cat and one post-cat on each bank) do i have to buy 2 wideband kits? (one for each bank?) or one and put it where the 2 pipes join after the cats and muffler?
thanks for any input that you guys can give me!!
air/fuel ratio readings
RE: air/fuel ratio readings
that WOT reading of 12.3 is a calculated/commanded value... and for a near stock N/A vehicle, it's pretty close... I know from experience that you could lean out the WOT/PE fueling a little to get that value up to about 12.5, and you'll be good to go... with a wideband, it would probably read around 12.7...
but yes, if you wanted to know actual, exact AFR then you would need to install a wideband O2 sensor...

RE: air/fuel ratio readings
thanks for the speedy reply!
so now the question is, do i need a wideband o2 for both banks? is it accurate enough off one bank? or should i put in an H pipe and mount it in there? also what brands seem to work the best with the trinity? i was looking at the AEM 30-2310 OR the innovate motorsports LC-1... will either of those work well with the trinity? (and like i said before... should i have one in each bank or one in an H pipe?) also, do you want to install them pre or post cats?
thanks again! this whole experience has been a true pleasure thus far!

in either one of the banks? left OR right? or in an H pipe between them? and can you comment on brand? (legaly?) is there a better brand then i mentioned?
RE: air/fuel ratio readings

RE: air/fuel ratio readings
did you mean an after market gauge or the requested afr on the trinity?
RE: air/fuel ratio readings
sorry for late reply. either or both, i have a innovate motorsports LC-1 but not sure how to use it with the trinity
