2003 Ram - Trans Issue - 2nd gear halt

Post by T-Muns »

233538
v.9r13
2003 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 - headers, CAI, 4.56 gears

Just got my U7137 and installed the 93 performance tune. Beforehand, it said vehicle needed updated, so I downloaded the calibration update and installed it.

Went for a drive and now 2nd gear stops pulling around 4500 rpms and doesn't shift. 1st gear pulls great. I forgot to take notice when 1st shifted but I seemed to be normal.

Can anyone help?

No codes. Took some advice from "adventurer" on dodgeforum. Returned to stock, then installed 91 tune, then reset pcm. No change, throttle still peaks at 4500 and stays there as long as the pedal is down.

hmm...not sure about that, the electronic throttle controls on the 03s are not even something we have ability to adjust.

Are you familiar with the calibration update? Could it have caused this? I've never had throttle or shift issues until I used the predator.

It simply updates the vehicles PCM as if you went to the dealership, but still, the PCM has no control over ETC or Transmission.

I guess I'll try taking it back to stock to see if it runs like it did before. Hopefully my PCM isn't F'd.

Went back to stock tune and no help. Got a chance to take it on the interstate and it runs like shit. Hardly wants to go over 55mph and if I floor it, it downshifts and jerks the truck like crazy around 4100 rpms.

Looks like it's a speed issue. It basically just cuts me off at 55mph. It's not so much of a shifting or throttle issue, I just happened to be in 2nd pulling 4500 at 55mph. I know you can't help me, but in case this information is worth anything...

Just finished a wiring & pcm upgrade to a 2004. No issues whatsoever and truck goes fast again. I'm a little afraid to put a tune on the new pcm but maybe if I stick to the predator and not other tuners I'll be ok.
