2011 GMC Sierra - Shifting firm.

Post by Cdeli »

2011 GMC Sierra. Installed new InTune a couple weeks back. Fuel Conservation Mode. I am having an issue with 2nd gear shifting very firm when WOT. Under normal acceleration I don't have the issue.

I then turned the CAGS off and the DOD off and I still get the firm shift in 2, but 3 dumps pretty hard now too.

I love the the way the truck drives but I could do without the shift issue. I'm sure it can be corrected. Note: if the streets a little damp she will chirp 2nd and 3rd. it's a trip.

Can you help?
Thanks!

Until TCM releases you will have to go to a CMR to get that taken care of. Lew (06MonteSS) is tuning my truck and actually adjusted it (he said its done through engine tuning not trans tuning) until I had the right bump and no second gear chirp at WOT. I think wait for TCM if it doesn't bother you or get a tune or at least have Lew adjust that part of the tune for you are your only options.

I know exactly what the issue is.... it can be fixed with a custom tune....

Can't believe Diablo hasn't fixed this problem yet. They have known about this programming mistake on 2011 5.3 (maybe more) for weeks now.

No, not until tranny support is available. The inTune as I'm sure most of Diablos products actually lock your ECM,PCM, TCM, etc. Nobody can read or change anything without custom tuning via Diablo.

TCM support isn't available in the inTune but is with the Trinity. As of right now you can do minimal changes to the canned tunes that are proved on the unit adjust injector slope and so on. To get into the nitty gritty you need the CMR software which requires the huge cost of the software or a CMR tuner like Lew for NA GM vehicles. Once they release the TCM support for the inTune we will be able to adjust a good amount of the parameters of the trans which is "coming soon", not even the CMR software is capable of tuning the TCM until it is released for the inTune. Lew can adjust the tune to get a softer shift from 1st to 2nd but it isn't actually trans tuning.

uhhh, no... not true...

the pcm and tcm do not get locked at all... you could install a tune and then read the pcm/tcm with other companies tuning software if you wanted... the modules do not get locked....
