2005 F250 Transmission Trouble After New FICM/Update
Don't know what to do here. I had my FICM replaced a few weeks ago, and just recently downloaded and installed the new update for U7165. Installed the "performance tune" about a week ago, and all has been going well.....power improvement, great shifting, and the fuel mileage is better.
Something really odd happened today. I was driving casually at about 60 mph, went to accelerate, and my RPM's shot way up then the transmission shifted VERY hard, and then the speed started to decrease, while RPM's were still up....This happened off and on for about 20 miles until I got home (the tranny shifted so hard at times, I thought it was going to blow). I restored to original back up, and went for a drive. No problems.
Thoughts?

No codes. Been running on stock tune all day with no problems. Is there a way to clear tuner (Clear custom tunes) and start from scratch?

if you have custom tunes loaded, you can erase them in options/custom tune menu.
Thanks

Unfortunate Update.......On the way to work the other day my truck stalls, and after getting it started, the transmission begins acting up again. Barely made it to the shop, and found out yesterday that I need a new transmission (approx. $3400). Hard to believe with only 158,000 miles.
I'm sooooooo excited.

$3400?
You can get a built aftermarket trans for less than that...I'd get a second opinion.

You are not alone, my buddy had his rebuilt by Ford and updated too... he is at 60000 miles and is currently getting a new trans from Ford for the same reason.
Only one thing to say about my "Diablew" Tune!

The price they quoted me they say was on the "high end".....and they are rebuilding it to stronger specs.
I'm needing some advice here. I have been told by many that I need to do an EGR delete??? Thoughts? I want this engine to last another 7 years now that I have a new transmission.....

Are they people that even know? The EGR actually keeps EGT temps down and reduces soot. It has made 7 years to get this far with it.

The EGR cooler is the issue, and it tends to crack and cause issues, and when the EGR valve is clogged you can wind up with drivability issues.
We deleted it from my buddy's 6.0 and it showed no adverse effects except for a CEL

Well.....less than 8,000 miles with a new tranny, and problems are back. During low speed quick acceleration, the transmission shifts abnormal. Stock tune....No problemo. Running extreme tune. Cal Id-VXCF9DA.

Update
Took it back to where the transmission work was done (new trans came with 2 yr. warranty), they checked for codes....nothing.
Thanks,
Eric D

I have no problems when the stock tune is installed.
