I have a U7160 with version 7r42 and it works great. Is there any benefit to updating to version 7r45?

Wow, that tool is very old.
If it is working with the current revision, it should not need an update, but it will not hurt.
I must caution you though...DO NOT let the dealer update the PCM in this truck or this tool will NOT work anymore after the flash.
It would need to be sent here for a $99 hardware update to make it work on the truck after a new dealer flash.
