Better Fuel Mileage

Hey Guys,

I am brand new to this forum. I bought a trinity for my 2000 Silverado 5.3l. I am currently getting 13mpg. Stock everything. I feel like I should be getting better than 13mpg. Ive done a complete tune up, and am not getting any engine codes. My truck has just about 130,000 miles on it so I'm thinking maybe the O2 sensor is going.

I was wondering what I could adjust on the 83 tune to get better gas mileage?

Any info would be great!

So, I finally had some time to look through this and start to log. Unfortunately I'm having some issues.

I cannot find Air Fuel Ratio (Equivalence Ratio) in the menu items. (My vehicle is a 2000 Silverado 5.3 1500)
I was wondering if you must have an A/F Gauge in order to log this info? If so, its not possible to use the dslogredux tool. It says I am missing that information in my log.

I also cannot find the MAF Sensor Frequency item in the menu.

Are these two options only for different vehicles? If so, does anyone else have another tuning guide to follow for silverado owners like me?

you won't have those parameters available in your older 2000 vehicle... you won't have Commanded Throttle Position or Tota Knock Spark Retard either, heh...

the parameters you need to log for your vehicle are:

Long Term fuel trim bank 1

Long Term Fuel Trim Bank 2

Spark Advance

Intake air Temp

MAF Sensor Mass Air Flow

Knock Retard

Engine Speed (RPM)

Absolute Throttle Position

So if I log with all of these, I can use the dslogredux tool? Or will that tool still ask for the A/F Ratio.

If the dslogredux tool does not work, does anyone know of any other tools to ues?

yes, you can use dslogredux...

it will prompt you to say that AFR was not found - are you logging with a 7192, 7193, or 7195? then answer/click YES to that question and it will continue on...

How do you get a log off the Trinity and into the computer for DSLOGREDUX to analyze?

Go to Support -> Updates/Downloads. Then put in your information in the drop down menus. Then I believe you can download the Data Viewer from that page.
