2008 JEEP SRT8 - ISSUE - Backup PCM

Post by miket93 »

INTUNE i-1000
2008 JEEP SRT-8

I just received the InTune i-1000. I updated the devices correctly. I then continued to update the truck with InTune. Following the prompts on the device I select one of the available tunes for my vehicle. The device starts to backup the factory PCM. I then hear a electric sound and snapping from under the hood. The devices reading backup 0% next the dashboard ABS starts blinking and battery light kicks on. then I chimes for check engine light and status screen reads 4wd needs services... check gauges... Device reads unable to backup PCM. Goes back to main menu.

Reluctantly, I proceed to attempt the procedure a few more times with the same results.

Prior to running the InTune device on my truck I have had 0 issues with my vehicle. Don't know if that is going to change now after attempting to update with a Diablo tune. I will be reaching out to support later today.

Yes, please give us a call, sounds like there is a communication issue in the truck.
Any aftermarket electronics inthe vehicle?

The truck electronics are completely stock and I am the original owner.

I talked to Frank there this morning. Frank told me that is a known problem and that Diablo is currently working on it and I should wait until the new fix is made available for the InTune. Is this not the case?

Its always gonna make noises and set off random lights when tuning. Get used to that. They'll go away when its done.

Diablo support told me the this morning. I wasnt expecting the dashboard to light up like it did.

However, The PCM backup does not complete. The tune never gets started.

Ok, re-read this, the tool is not in recovery mode, right?
It boots up to the main menu, but simply willl not save the stock tune?

The InTune seems fine. Connect to the computer and still reads..

This InTune is up to date with Diablo's current release.

Application is @ version 1r01e.

I will look for your email and instructions.

Over the weekend I updated the Intune to the latest 1r01f application release. After the update I was able to get past the backup PCM issue I was experiencing last week and install a tune. Thanks again for your help!

I am having this same issue after tech got me reset from the freezing up part. goes all the way until it won't write the back up just like this guy was having. No electronics added outside of factory just got home from work 35 mile trip so the battery is up. mine is an 09 dodge and I have owned it since 7 miles.
