2000 Silverado 5.3 Predator Tuning Help

I'm running the factory HP tune with trans mods to help soften the HD2 1-2, 2-3 shifts. The other morning I did some Real Time Data Logging on the way to work, approx. 26 miles. Truck runs great, but I'm struggling with fine tuning adjustments to the tune to optimize SFT/LFT's for example, among other paramaters. I'm overwhelmed with forum / technical advice and suggestions and need help.

My tuner is the U7198xv.9r15, Univ_Rev2.
Truck is a 2000 1500 ECSB Z71 4x4.

Mods include HD2 shift kit, Sonnax billet servos, KN CAI, 4.56's, 34" tall tires. Otherwise motor is stock. It's a daily driver that I tow up to 4,000 lbs with a couple times a year.

Getting ready to add a CD 3-3200 rpm 278mm convertor, Dearle deep extra capacity pan and fan cooled 40k cooler and 185* GM Perf. thermo..

I read the tuning for dummies section, but don't feel confident that I know, nor do I have the time to learn the "getting it right part."

I'm an aviation mechanic / commerical aviation chief as well as a FAA air safety inspector and custom bike builder.

Recommendations and feedback suggestions for my next move would be appreciated.

Thanks,
V1

the "factory hp tune" is only a copy of your original backup stock GM tune... it is not a performance tune....

you should install the 87 Octane Tune if you use 87 octane gas in the truck, or the Diablo Tune if you use 91 octane gas or higher in the truck...

and the stock thermostat on your truck is 187*... so there is no need to buy a 185* t-stat - it's not going to gain you anything...

see here for datalogging and fueling adjustment info:

and see here for custom tune info:

Like Lew suggests, use the 87 or 91 octane tunes. Get the LTFT dialed in and set your other parameters the way you would like them.

After that's done, I HIGHLY suggest you get a custom tune from Lew (06MonteSS). You won't regret it. He's a master at getting more out of the truck than what comes with the Predator.
