I have a 06 ram with 37 mudgrapplers, volant intake, magnaflow exhaust and i run royal purple......
I just purchased the u7137 and i insalled the 91 tune with no mods and it felt good, but my concern is that i only run 87 octane. I did not hear any pinging but m concerned. Is this alright to run.... and is pinging very noticeable...?
Then I installed he 87 tune with 10% increase in throttle, it is an improvement over stock but i would like firmer shifts even with half throttle..... Is there anything i can do, or is the a downloadable custom tune that would give me the benefits im looking for, which is the performance of the 91 tune but with 87 octane...
Sorry for the newb questions but i have been on several forums for the last few days and cant find any definite answers
Thank you for any help

Run the 87 tune and log it. You aren't gonna get 91 octane performance on 87 octane. Spend the measly $0.20 a gallon extra and buy good gas. Isn't it worth $5 extra a week to make your $30k+ truck happy?

lol.... sorry i dont drive it alot and i get free gas threw work so its, unfortunately the 87..... but like i said when i did run the 91 it had alot of ballz and i could not here pining... I am also from canada and here it like 25 cent a liter which adds up.... also i am lost on how to log... i have looked into it because i thought it can tell if ur hurting the motor as in if i was running the 91 tune with 87 octane...Mike_Levy wrote:Run the 87 tune and log it. I am sorry for the newb stuff..... I am not looking for extreme power as the truck is a beast and the tires kill it.. but my main concern is a little performance and good shifting...

You won't hear the pinging because the knock sensors will pull back the timing to make sure it doesn't. You're losing quite a bit of performance if its detonating though.

Thanks alot mike..... i feel a big power diff compared to the 87, is there any way to find out if its actually detonating?Mike_Levy wrote:You won't hear the pinging because the knock sensors will pull back the timing to make sure it doesn't. You can tell by doing a log. Theres a How To someplace, I don't recall where. I'm sure somebody will come by and post the link, or if I find it I'll post it.
EDIT: I think its in this link. http://www.case-enterprises.com/xeryder ... edator.htm

it will run way better if you match the octane to the tune youre running, you aren't doing yourself any favors by running the 91 octane tune with 87 gas. if anything I recommend using the 91 octane tune with 93 octane gas
