Buying a new Trinity
Buying a new Trinity
I'm finally going to purchase a Trinity, probably from Summit Racing in Tallmadge, Ohio. I'll be going to the store sometime this coming week or the week after as I will be needing some sensors and a partial pillar mount, which nobody lists for my Colorado. Since I'm buying the tuner on good faith for an "unsupported" vehicle, What will I be able to do with it? I would like to set up the additional gauges that I want (oil pressure, trans temp, battery voltage, instant and average fuel economy, and maybe 1 or 2 others). I would also like to do some data logging. GM customer service told me (after having to pull a few teeth) that the tune on my Colorado is identical to the 2010 5.3L Silverado 1500. While I'm waiting for the official tunes, will I be able to use the Trinity for monitoring purposes or not. Also, what would happen if I tried to install a tune for the Silverado?
RE: Buying a new Trinity
if your engine/tranny calibration ID's are not supported, it will not let you install anything, it will give you an error message saying that the vehicle is not supported...
and you can't monitor/log any tcm/tranny data, like trans temp... nor items like instant or average fuel economy - it does not report that stuff... that's what your DIC in the truck is for

Re: RE: Buying a new Trinity
Trans temp will require drilling a hole in the pan and installing a sensor and, since GM doesn't give me an oil pressure gauge any more I planned on installing a tee where the F@#$%n' idiot light sensor is and using an electrical pressure sensor. I know a mechanical gauge would be preferable but I'm trying to display the data without hanging a bunch of after market tin gauge panels and drilling a bunch of holes. If I read the info on the Trinity correctly, all of the displays I want to set up (and a lot more) are available.06MonteSS wrote:if your engine/tranny calibration ID's are not supported, it will not let you install anything, it will give you an error message saying that the vehicle is not supported...
I'm hoping I can select the 2010 Silverado 1500 5.3. According to GM customer service, It's the same ECM and program as my Colorado.
