Is custom tuning just a scam?

They need to run it on a dyno to get as close to real world driving without tearing up the streets. For example, Where can you run a motor for an extended amount of time at 4,000rpm?

I can hook you up with a custom tune man, all done via email - emailing tune files, you email me recorded data logs I ask you for, etc etc...

and there's a log more than just "a few small things" that can be done to these truck tunes, heh...

It sounds like you talked to the wrong CMR tuner. Lew is great and I as well have a custom tune by him and look forward to throwing some long tube headers on and get him to clean it up some more. Granted get even greater results with either a wide band O2 sensor with logging to give Lew better data than the factory A:F ratio metering system or a dyno tune will get you better results because increased capabilities of the dyno to simulate real word scenarios in a controlled environment as well as better A:F ratios from the dyno's O2 sniffer.

When in doubt, go with Lew and you won't be disappointed, you will however think it's a scam that GM couldn't release the truck tuned like this from the factory.

Sent my info to my local CMR dealer so they could work on my custom tune. Here is their reply...

"I've looked at the tune, and there are a few small things that can be done, but to get much more, it needs to be put on the dyno to verify AFR."

So now I have to have my truck Dyno'd too to get a custom tune? Come on! What's next? Are they gonna gouge me with other add-on charges?

Sorry to hear that BUT that's what happens when the person claiming to be able to do a custom tune doesn't really know what they are doing.......Makes the company that licensed them look bad IMO. People should not be allowed to have the software unless they have a proven track record of tuning. It's not hard t odestroy someones vehicle pretending you can tune them.

....on the positive side, you will enjoy your tune from "Lew"! Everybody does.
