06 over rev

I bought my U7186 Predator LLY/LBZ from my friend that had it on his 08. When we installed it on my 06 it installed fine but would not go past 1500rpm in the 65hp mode. We tried the 85hp mode and after it hit 1500rpm it took off on its own to red line until I shut the key off! Is there an update or something I need to do. I checked my vin # and it is a LBZ. He thinks he put revision 9r02 on it.
