Hey Lew,
Your Monte is pretty much the same hardware setup as the GXP. I dunno about yours but mine gets HOT with everything crammed into that bay even with fan settings bumped and its getting worse as summer's creeping in. After dialing in fuel with dsredux my gauges still read acceptable temps, but in the high end of engine temp on a hot day I get the super hot metal smells from underneath like the manifold and cat are pissed. LTFT adjustment be damned if its clogging up the cat. I pulled my slope from -8 to -5 to see if that helps in case I'm to rich and thats where the extra heat is coming from, and I want to bump the fans up more to help keep fluids cooler. Right now I'm at 30/35/40/50/60/75/80~% fan power on the temp list.
Whats the max % fan power you use in the high end temps and whats the lowest temp you trigger it?

RE: Max fan power %
If your concerned about hot, jackem' up. When I pull the trailer in the summer, I have the fans on max all the time. I've pulled in 120 weather with the AC on, and she's never broken a sweat. If you have fans, use them.

Scrubbed the outside of my Cat and resonator and wiped with a damp cloth. Bumped fans to 35/45/55/65/75/85/90/95~%, noticed a small but decent change on the gauges. Will always be a hotter running car just because of the ridiculous build into that platform but the smell is better. Phew, that could have ended much worse.

my fan settings are at: 0, 25%, 35%, 50%, 65%, 75%, and then 90% for all the rest....
and yeah, -8 is too much for the slope adjustment on these cars man, it makes it too rich and the car turns into a slug...
if you need that much of an adjustment, you're better off getting the MAF sensor table adjusted instead... plus, a lot more things can be tweaked with a custom tune too
hit my up if interested...
