what is the difference between CAI93 and 93 perf tune and does a high performance K&N stock filter replacement count as a CAI??

I am planning a supercharger in the near future and dont want to spend money on a CAI so would it be ok to install the high perf. filter in the stock filter box and drill a couple of big holes on the bottom for added airflow?? will this benefit me or make me run slower than just a perf 93?
also the only mod i have is a Byrlcream with the stock resonators still on there but im planning on removing the cats and replacing them with str8 pipes soon.

no a filter replacemet would not count because the stock airbox still has restrictions compared to a cold air tube intake i am using the 63 series k/n it's awesome i put it on and saw a 8 rwhp dyno gain alone

The difference is how much fule is commanded, as the CAIs tend to lean the cars out a bit.
A drop in filter will not cause much change, most of the difference is in the actual induction tube.

Thanks
