Bought U7160 from buddy...Feature not supported. Help?

I purchased a U7160 from a buddy (basically same vehicle), but when I try to install I get "Feature not supported on this vehicle, Reflash may be required" I was too late to call tech support. When they say reflash, are they talking truck or programer? Im pretty sure he returned his old truck to stock already, at least he says he did. Thanks for any help or ideas to try.

The truck is a 2003 f250 ford with 6.0L

The first thing to do is check the revision on your tool in the main screan, the lates for that tool is R-45 which you can download from our web page under downloads not only does explain how to do it but also what you need, if is a R-45 and still get that massage maybe the CAL ID you have is either to old which would then you need to got to the Ford dealer and have the UPdates put in it,or is the last 2 CAL-ID not suported in the U7160 which are VXAP1-2, which requieres the new tool U7165, then you can contact sales at 877 396 6624 so the can explain the process with the U7160 buy back program.
