tuning for 90mm tb?

Post by bpcatch22 »

Ok, so just got my 2010 challenger srt8, 6sp, and oh yeah LOVE IT!! It has a mopar cai, catch can, 180 t-stat, flowmaster 44s catback.

So heres my questions. The previous owner had purchased a 90mm Arrington tb and a u7135 predator but never installed or used either one. Well he gave them to me with the car, and I am dying to put them to use!! I have researched a ton on the 90mm with mixed reviews, some say it will benefit, some say not.

I have hooked up the predator, but says i need to downgrade my calid, so i am waiting on my usb to arrive, so i can get that taken care of. I hate to have this 90mm sitting around and not use it, so can I install it and get it tuned to work right?

From what I've read on this and other forums, the tuners here are the best, and i know this is the right place to come! I'm new to the tuning thing so will take all the help I can get!

Thanks, BP

90mm TB is usless if your still running the stock intake manifold as the opening is 80mm--- best bet as that is concerned is an 83 mm ported---- the predator is a kickass tuner--- i have one for my ram and i have used other tuners hypertech, superchips--- and DS is the best one and has CMR tuners who can create custom tunes etc.....

Crap, forgot to add that I have a friend that is a machinist and can get the intake port matched in like an hour for me. That is not a problem at all.

Cant wait to get the usb for my predator so i can play!

The 90 does nothing. I had one on my SRT8 with heads and cam, and going from the 90, to a ported 85, to a ported 83 made absolutely no power difference whatsoever (actually it gained torque going smaller). 370ci simply cannot use the extra air a larger TB provides. Velocity goes down, torque producion suffers.

I have seen this answer alot in my searching and searching all over the net. I have also seen just the opposite about as much. For example check out this thread I found: http://www.challengertalk.com/forums/f1 ... 0mm-31968/

I hate to have this 90mm sitting around and not be able to use it, would like to give it a try at least. Just know I am going to need some help with the tuning since I am new to this type of thing. Exactly the reason I came here for answers! Can you tuners help me out?

Thanks for the responses! BP

Like as stated above, your stock 6.1L really can't use the extra air but if you already have the TB, give it a try. It's not like you're going to waste money by going out and buying one. But I'd really get your intake port matched first, otherways you may have tuning issues to deal with. Actually, with the extra air coming in, you may have issues anyway. You may need to modify your tune with your Predator and add some fuel to keep it from going lean. So it's really your choice if you want to experiment or not. :?

I would love to at least give it a try! I just want to make sure its not going to damage my engine, and I am new to the tuning thing so I might need some help with that. Thats why I came here, cuz I know you guys are the best at what you do! So any input I can get is greatly appreciated!

Oh by the way, got my predator cables today and got the calibration done. Gonna hook it up tomorrow and get the tune in, cant wait!
