About to buy an intune but have one last worry

Post by kapelusprime »

I've got a little extra cash thanks to my latest trip over the pond with Uncle Sam. I don't have the best knowledge of computers, so lets say I get the intune and plug it into my new 2011 GMC 5.3 and then install the 93 octane tune. Then the unthinkable happens and this programmer crashes as dose my computer losing my stock tune. Do you guys at Diablo have the stock tunes on file to back up or safety net the vehicles that the tuner supports? I ask for us computer idiots so I don't have to worry about going to the dealership and get it re flashed. The no water marks are cool, but I've read post about guys losing the stock tune do to this or that, after a search could not find out if they got their stock tune back without hitting the dealer up. Voiding my warranty do to showing up with a computer that has been tampered with would be a bad thing. Thank you for any info pertaining to putting my fear to rest would be great and secure my business.

I can't give you an answer for sure but I believe it has happened before. You could always save the stock tune on a couple devices to be sure but I believe there is a way to reset everything at the dealer if needed.

They have all the factory tune as well as the CMR tuners (they access to GM or your brands ECM/TCM cal files through the company). That's how they tune our engines. If they don't have the right tune they pull your Cal ID and get it and integrate it into their tuners through updates (usually right off the bat for the cal ID that's not supported for the indiviual customer) increasing their supported vehicles within support groups.

Like MotoAce said, save your ORI file from the inTune to your desktop/laptop so that you have it, also you will need to pull the ORI and LTW files for custom tuning if you chose that route. With your 5.3 (same motor as my truck) you can't go wrong with Lewstuning (06MonteSS/Diablew).
