My 97 Grand Pri GT has service engine light on so I used both my predators, U7194 and U7191 to try and read the trouble code. The scanner gave error "cannot read trouble codes".
I tried both with the car on and off. Also with ignition "on" without starting the car.
Any ideas?

none of the diablo tools will read/scan that old 1997 vehicle...
the communications protocol of that 1997 vehicle is different and too old....
especially considering both of those predators are made for newer CAN-based protocols for 2006 or newer vehicles only, heh...
