Rkl tune problems....

Post by Cummins1919 »

I have a Trinity on my 2003 cummins and when i load the rkl tunes the truck wont rev up past 2000 rpm until it gets to running temp then it runs fine. Also when i try to load a tune it tells me that the tune isnt supported but when i go into the tunes the custom section is there and i can down load them. I have updated the tool and downloaded the correct tune for my calid. I am running version v.1r09a my calid is 12305053ai and im running the post 8r28 rkl tunes that start with 12xxx. What am i doing wrong i tried calling tech support but they told me mike l was gone and that no one else was there that does cummins....and thats after i sat on hold for 20 mins. Also im not the only person with this problem there are several threads under predator that try to address this problem and all the guys from diablosport blame thier trucks for not being able to handle the tune. Our trucks arent the issue its the program itself and no one at diablosport seems to b addressing the problem and that frustrates me because when i spend 600 dollars i expect to get decent tech support not put on hold for 20 mins just to tell me they dont know.

did you have a tune loaded before you loaded the custom tunes to the tool?

if it lets you load the tunes, Im not sure what it could be, this is not something I recall seeing.

Yes i had a tune loaded. But when i go to downlaod it tells me not supported but when i go to performance tune page the custom tunes page is there and i can download but once i do and start the truck the truck wont rev up past 2000 rpm and cuts out until the engine warms up then it runs perfect. Its almost as if it is advancing the timing way to much until the truck gets to running temp because i get really loud injector noise but like i said when it warms up the noise disappears and the truck runs great. Every rkl tune i have tried is the same even the stacker tunes. Its also not a fuel issue because i never loose rail pressure it stays steady even if i hold it a 2000rpm when it cuts out its showing i have 52 mpa.

Could it have something to do with the high output motors from 2003 that are different than the standard ones maybe? Not sure if they add more timing from the factory or not
