help

Post by Enano »

So, my car has been sitting for 2 months, i guess the battery died over that time, ive had it running a few minutes each weekend when im home so i thought it would be up to snuff. while i was trying install the tune onto the car the headlights turned on, and then the diablos screen started to dim. Right now the batter is basically dead and i dont think i can start the car, either from it being dead of from the tuning messing it up or both, hopefully its just dead. i had made an original back up, and then went to modify the stock tune, i raised idle/rev aswell as disable mds, retard 2 degrees, and add 10%fuel. (suggested by promotion tuning until i get the CMR), im running heads/cam. after i put this tune on the car i went to start it and it just clicked when i tried to turn the engine over. i went to put the original back up back on and this is when it died. im positive the battery is dead, and ill only be able to jump it,im guessing if the tuning didnt mess up the ability to simply jump the car. if im not able to jump, ill try swapping the battery. and going from there.

any advice or suggestions would be very appreciated.

how screwed could i potentially be (replacement of pcm/tcm etc)
i guess ill try jumping the car tomorow, ill see if i can get it to start and let it run for a little while and try the tune again.

the gods are simply against me for some reason, and they better be saving me from death over and over again for all the headaches they are givin me.

Well from I read, the lights do come on when installing a tune, normal. I would try to replace the battery first or borrow one if you can out of another vehicle.

Installing a tune with a near-dead battery is very risky. Now your ECU has only part of the software it needs to function. Get a new battery and try again. After that try to install the tune or the original backup. If that doesn't work you are probably looking at a dealer reflash. Mike can provide more info on Monday.

I was able to install the tune off of a different battery. I plugged the tuner in and it said, the tuner failed to insall the tune last time, it re installed the original back up and i was good from there. and then was able to jump the one in the car (couldnt do this before cause needed to raise idle for cam. got scurred there.

Why Turn the headlights on when writing a new Image?????

Post by cmra-i »

1. 7135.
2. Current Revision 9r05
3. 2006 Dodge Charger RT 5.7L

Why did my headlights come on when writing an image to the car?

With all the precautionary statements in the documentation aimed at reducing current draw by making sure everything is off, I was in dis-belief that you would actually turn on one of the most current hungry accessories in the car.

Is this Normal???

I work in the Flash/computing industry and I'm fully aware of what happens if the Flash update cycle is interrupted!

I made it through the process (twice. ug) but It scared the hell out of me!

You should consider documenting this so we don't panic!

If you disable the auto headlamps, I believe they will not come on, but it is OK.

Thanks

Thanks
I don't have the auto headlight feature.

I'm going to check to make sure it hasn't been modified when I get home today

The lights will come on whenever you flash the vehicle, completely normal, happens on all DCX vehicles, even when flashing them with the starscan.

It is in the documentation that the headlights in addition to other accessories might turn on and off during the process.

Actually I noticed when flashing the Jeep, the lights don't come on. Not sure if this is an 08 change or if none of them do it.
