tarnished exhaust tips

06 mustang gt has cmdp, comp stage 2 cams magnaflow axleback exhaust. After installing a pypes offroad exhaust i noticed my exhaust tips tarnished. I also noticed more exhaust smell. I figured the was because of the no cat, but I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem after taking the cats off. It was also tuned by tuning superstore. Thanks.
